Pupil Library Assistant Award 2025 :
Authors Aloud UK’s perspective
Authors Aloud UK are proud sponsors of the Pupil Library Assistant Award 2023 and have been since its inception in 2015.
Our mission as an author bookings agency is to enable children and young people to experience the magic of books by meeting their favourite authors and discovering new ones. We know from the thousands of events we have organised over the years taking our authors into schools up and down the country, just how big an impact this can have in inspiring children to read and improve their literacy and reading skills.
We also know just how important the role of school libraries is to the successful delivery of the wider school curricula and how their work is so vital to provide children and young people with the reading, literacy and information skills they need to be successful in their studies and help build their confidence and self- esteem.
By recognising the vital contribution that pupil library assistants make to the day to day running of their libraries the Pupil Library Assistant Award is shining a light nationally on the value of school libraries and their profile in school. Most importantly the Award also celebrates the work of individual pupil library assistants from across the country. At Authors Aloud UK we have seen impact the Awards have made over the years to the pupils involved – providing them with a great sense of personal achievement through the validation and acknowledgement of their work and seeing the pride and joy of their parents and schools attending such a prestigious ceremony.
Through Authors Aloud UK’s sponsorship we have encouraged many publishers to support the Awards, enabled many of our authors to attend the Awards ceremony and act as Champions to all the pupil library assistant finalists. We know from feedback from the pupils themselves just how special the whole process has been for them in terms of building their confidence, self-esteem and aspirations as well as how their work in their school libraries has improved their own learning and skills development.
As 2025 sponsors Authors Aloud UK is looking forward once again to supporting the Pupil Library Assistant Award in placing a national spotlight on the work and value of our school libraries and celebrating the work of our pupil library assistants.
